"Sativus" a Latin word meaning cultivated

In the village of Ghaen, our fully integrated corporation specializes in cultivating saffron and other botanicals for the nutraceutical, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and fragrance industries.

what we do

At Sativus NV, our foundation is deeply rooted in the delicate Crocus Sativus flower and the Berberis Vulgaris shrub. Beyond Saffron and Barberry, we also source and develop high-quality botanical ingredients such as black lime and guava leaves from Nigeria.

Our saffron growers are strategically located in the Khorasan province of East Iran, where the region's unique climate and direct sunlight create the perfect conditions for cultivation. Harvesting saffron is a meticulous process—approximately 190 flowers are needed to obtain just 1 gram of this prized spice.

We oversee every stage of production with rigorous quality control, from cultivation and packaging to laboratory testing. Our independent testing facilities adhere to ISO 3632-1:2011 and ISO 3632-2:2010 standards, ensuring compliance with European regulations and ethical sourcing practices in Iran.

By working directly with farmers, we provide full traceability and transparency. As one of the few companies fully qualified to test Iranian saffron for pesticide residues under European Regulation 396/2005, we guarantee the highest safety and quality standards for our customers.

Mission : To satisfy  the needs of  our customers with respect to quality and quantity.

Your First Choice in Iranian Saffron

the undisputed capital

The Crocus Sativus is a beautiful purple-coloured flower, which contains fascinating fragrances and outstanding characteristics – also called the Queen of Spices.

The undisputed capital for saffron production is Iran, where the tradition exists for at least 3,000 years. The country produces over 96% of the approximately 300 tons of saffron produced worldwide each year.

Ecological Conditions of Ghaen

Due to Ghaen's ecological conditions, its unique climate and rich soil, South Khorasan province in Eastern Iran is ideal for growing natural saffron. Specially Sargol quality, highest in Crocine and Safranal.

The village is located on the eastern side of Iran’s central desert. That’s why the weather there is harsh and dry, with the perfect altitude for the Crocus Sativus flower. Our manufacturing plant is situated both geologically and geographically in the best area of the province of South Khorasan.
